Preparations for the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2024 are in full swing. The upcoming EuCNC & 6G Summit is taking place in Antwerp, Belgium, on June 3-6, 2024, under the theme, “6G: from Vision to Reality” and 6G-NTN is highly excited to participate in the conference’s rich program. The consortium partners will participate in multiple sessions and workshops focused on 6G architecture and the role of regulation in research, among other topics.

Innovative architectural designs for 6G

The 6G-NTN project partners will participate in Workshop 8, “Architectural Considerations Enabling the IMT 2030 Framework by European 6G R&D Activities”, on June 3 from 14:00 to 17:30 in Room Galapagos. The workshop participants will discuss strategic advancements under the newly approved ITU IMT-2030 framework, targeting the progression to 6G by integrating new usage scenarios with a focus on sustainability and security. This session aims to contribute to the future standardization paths of 6G technologies.

Unification of TN and NTN

The 6G-NTN project partners will also participate in Workshop 12, “Non-Terrestrial Networks and Terrestrial Networks unification – from Vision to Reality,” on June 3 from 14:00 to 17:30 in Room Toucan 1. The main objectives of the workshop are to facilitate interaction and discussions between the parallel running SNS JU projects with a focus on NTN; facilitate discussions between NTN focused R&D activities in Europe receiving support through different funding channels (EC, ESA, national and Eureka); create an awareness about 6G experimentation and demonstration opportunities that space assets scheduled to be launched in the near future offer; and support PoC validations in situ (in-orbit) and standardization.

Regulatory insights for 6G implementation

The 6G-NTN project partners will also engage in a workshop focused on the regulatory aspects critical for the development of 6G technology. This discussion, titled “Bringing 6G from Vision to Reality in Europe – The Key Role of Regulation in Research”, will take place on June 4 from 11:00 to 13:00 in Room Toucan 2, exploring the regulatory challenges and opportunities shaping 6G’s future.

6G Use Cases

The 6G-NTN project partners will also present at the European vision on 6G use-cases Convened Session taking place on June 5, from 11:00 to 13:00 in the Gorilla Room 1. This session will allow the speakers to share the results of the May 2024 3GPP workshop and discuss the next steps regarding the 6G use cases in standardization and European R&I projects.

Lastly, the 6G-NTN project partners will present a poster titled “6G Non-Terrestrial Networks for the Full Integration of NTN Components into the Future 6G Infrastructure” during the Poster Session taking place on June 5 between 17:30 and 18:00 in the Congress Foyer.

We look forward to insightful discussions with thought leaders, researchers, policymakers, and industry pioneers and learning more about 6G as a vital component of Europe’s digital future.

About the EuCNC & 6G Summit

The EuCNC & 6G Summit builds on putting together two successful conferences in the area of telecommunications: the European Conference on Networks and Communications, supported by the European Commission, and the 6G Summit, which originated from the 6G Flagship program in Finland. The conference is sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) and the European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP). The event focuses on all aspects of telecommunications ranging from 5G deployment and mobile IoT to 6G exploration and future communications systems and networks, including experimentation and testbeds, and applications and services. The conference brings together cutting-edge research and world-renowned industries and businesses. In the last few years, the conference has attracted over 900 delegates from more than 40 countries who came together to present and discuss the latest results and demonstrate developed technologies.
